Shronda Armstrong In Her Own Words…

In 2019, I hit a significant plateau in my life. I wasn’t living in my purpose. I was frustrated with my job and constantly being overlooked and mistreated as the only minority in my department. I was making just enough money to barely make ends meet as the sole support for my three children. I was physically and mentally tired of overworking myself for companies owned by wealthy white men that barely hired people who looked like me. I was tired of draining my energy to build someone else’s dreams. I knew I was meant to gain more in my life.

I decided to take a risk to follow my dreams instead. I wanted to create a platform of my own to utilize my talents. My brand is a reflection of my energy and spirit. Each and every one of us has a special gift and purpose. However, a lot of us are not living our lives to the fullest potential. I love to inspire women of color to not only embrace self-love but to free themselves from being a prisoner of fear. You deserve to see your dreams come true!

As a media professional, what topics are the most important for you to report on, and what type of guests do you interview regularly?

Shronda: As a media professional, I choose to report on topics that I feel are informative, and refreshing, in addition to entertaining. My platform, The Q-Chat Talk Show, and the Geaux Queen blog focuses on topics that enrich our culture with a wide range of guests that have amazing stories to tell. I have had the pleasure of speaking to women of color who have made amazing accomplishments. From millionaire entrepreneurs such as Mignon Francois, to mental health and self-love advocates, wonderful authors, entertainers, and more, each one of my guests have been beautiful, transparent, resilient individuals that are nothing short of phenomenal. I always make a point to ask my guests to define their perspective on self-love. Self-love is such an important topic to me and my guests are prime examples of how self-love is a key factor in every facet of our lives.

What impact do you want to make on the world?

Shronda: Right now, we face daily reminders of the darkness in this world. There is an overabundance of hatred and violence. In the media world, there are platforms created with the sole purpose of relying on negativity and toxic energy. I want to make a difference in this world by contributing to producing and creating a force of positivity to this world and the media profession. There will always be room for a market that thrives on intelligence and making others happy. With the brand that I am building, it is extremely important to me to produce excellence that reminds us to love ourselves, highlight transparency that leads to healing, and to lastly, offer a voice that defines the necessity to practice self-love. It may sound cliche’, but Michael Jackson said it so eloquently when he sang that to heal the world is to make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race. I want to be a part of making that impact to make the world and our way of thinking better.

What is a life lesson you’ve learned that sticks with you to this day?

Shronda: I have experienced a great amount of ups and downs. I am a survivor of domestic violence in addition to dealing with PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The major life lesson I have learned that sticks to me each and every single day is that even during the highs and the lows, it is invaluable to exercise self-love. I learned to love myself, literally, figuratively as well as emotionally. Learning to love myself both internally and externally lead me to reach a greater sense of purpose in my life.

What are some of your future goals and what steps are you taking to get there?

Shronda: My future goals are to start a separate talk show focusing on the amazing musicians that I have had the pleasure of interviewing. I also want to work towards creating my dream of building The Queen Vision Media Network which provides an online radio station as well as an online streaming app that has positive and entertaining shows. I am currently producing two podcasts that will be included in this network in addition to my own show and I am hoping to be able to include more shows as time goes on.

What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

Shronda: Well, there are 6 more months left and I am still dreaming big! Expect to see more phenomenal guests on The Q-Chat, the launch of my upcoming bi-monthly Geaux Queen Magazine, and more in-person video interviews as I work hard on polishing The Q-Chat into more of a formal talk show format. I also have a goal to complete my memoir this year, “Pieces of My Heart” which will detail how I overcame an isolated childhood, bullying, low self-esteem, and abuse prior to my enlightenment to embrace self-love and self-confidence. I have quite a bit of goals on my plate for the remainder of the year and I am truly excited to go as hard as possible to make it happen gracefully!
