How long did it take to write the book, What Do I Do Next? 10 Steps To Becoming Who God Created You To Be. What was your vision for the book when you first started to write it?

Rechard Larkin: Me writing my book was an absolute process. It began with a dream while sleeping one night in June 2016. In the dream, I saw the title of the book as well as the chapter titles. I was awakened from my sleep and I jotted down what I saw in the dream. I knew I wanted to write a book. But, it took me 5 years to truly begin writing. I got a coach; and once, I began the writing process with Taurea Avant, 80% of my book was completed in 3 days during her book camp. I completed the other 20% in an additional 60 days. My vision for the book was to always improve people’s relationships by improving their relationship with God.

Were there any challenges while writing the book? If so, how did you overcome those moments?

Rechard Larkin: One of the challenges I faced while writing the book was making sure that I was staying true to myself and my own journey. Consequently, the temptation to get stuck in a place of sadness and sorrow associated with past events resurfaced. Seeing the end and envisioning the potential lives impacted focused me on the task. It was important to me that I didn’t sugarcoat anything or make it seem like everything is perfect all the time. I wanted to be translucent about the ups and downs of life and show people that even though the journey isn’t always easy, it is so worth it in the end. I also wanted to make sure that I was providing practical and helpful advice that people could actually use in their own lives.

What is the overall message you strive to send and how do you think you did with delivering the message?

Rechard Larkin: The overall message I try to get across is that we are all capable of becoming who God created us to be. We just need to take the time to figure out what that looks like for each of us and then put in the work to make it happen. Regardless of where we are in life, improving your relationship with God serves as the foundation to improving our relationships with our fellow man; and becoming who God created us to be. I think I did a pretty good job of delivering this message, but there are always ways to improve.

Are any new books soon to come or in the works?

Rechard Larkin: Currently, I am launching my publishing company aimed at helping pastors (particularly bi-vocational pastors), lay members, and business leaders add value to their communities by learning to Write, Witness, Work, and Win with the right book. So, with that, I will be aiding others in giving birth to their books and to their stories. But for me personally, I am working on my sophomore book What Do I Do Next? 5 Keys To SHIFTing Your Mindset For Success and my third publication which is Daily Devotion with Pastor L. It is actually a daily journal, devotional, and prayer book.

What words of encouragement would you have for anyone who may not know what to do next with their lives? What should be their first step?

Rechard Larkin: There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as everyone’s journey will be unique. However, I would encourage anyone who is unsure of what to do next with their lives to take some time to reflect on what they are passionate about and what makes them feel most alive. In my view, this is best accomplished by seeking God for guidance and direction. Once you have a better sense of what you are meant to do, you can start taking steps towards making it a reality. One of the most important things to remember is that you don’t have to do everything all at once. Just take it one step at a time; have faith and trust that the journey will unfold before you. Everything happens for a reason, so even if you make a wrong turn, it will eventually lead you to where you are meant to be.
