About Tiffani Teachey
Tiffani Teachey is a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) advocate, TEDx international speaker, and international best-selling author of the children’s book What Can I Be? STEM Careers from A to Z, the STEM Crew Kids Adventures series, and three transformative books on women’s empowerment and entreprenuership. She is the host of the Read It Right Radio Show on WDRBmedia and also host of the Engineering Management Institute (EMI) Women in Engineering Podcast. Tiffani is the owner of Thrive Edge Publishing and the owner/publishing consultant of Inspired Authors Publishing. She helps underrepresented industry and business leaders publish children’s books about their field to inspire children to choose the same path.
Tiffani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management, both from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a Leadership Studies Ph.D. student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
As an engineer with over 19 years of experience, Tiffani is very interested in getting young people interested in STEM careers. She was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and enjoys traveling and being a youth mentor.

Can you share with us a memorable experience from your journey as a speaker and how it relates to the themes of literary inspiration and empowerment, especially in the context of Chosen Pen’s mission?
Tiffani Teachey: Becoming an international TEDx speaker with the University of South Africa was a memorable experience aligned with Chosen Pen’s mission of literary inspiration and empowerment, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
In my TEDx talk, I emphasized the importance of STEM representation and exposing children to these fields. I shared my journey as an engineer, highlighting how childhood curiosity fuels lifelong learning. Nurturing this curiosity not only fosters literacy but also encourages education and reduces low literacy rates.
STEM literacy bridges the gap between scientific knowledge and overall literacy, enabling individuals to engage with complex ideas. By showcasing diverse STEM role models, we empower underrepresented communities and inspire belief in one’s potential.
My experience affirmed that STEM education and representation profoundly impact curiosity, literacy, and empowerment, aligning perfectly with Chosen Pen’s mission to inspire and empower through literature and knowledge dissemination.
Chosen Pen Publishing believes in the power of storytelling. How do you see storytelling as a catalyst for personal growth and forgiveness, and can you provide an example from your own life or work that illustrates this?
Tiffani Teachey: As a STEM advocate, author, and podcast host, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of storytelling in driving personal growth and forgiveness. My children’s books, including “What Can I Be? STEM Careers from A to Z,” serve as vehicles for inspiring young minds by introducing them to diverse STEM careers. Through these stories, young readers can envision their own paths, fostering personal growth as they dream and aspire.
In my work on women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship, I’ve shared stories of resilience and success, offering sources of inspiration and healing. These narratives encourage forgiveness of past setbacks and ignite the motivation to persevere.
Through my roles, I’ve created platforms for sharing these stories, contributing to personal growth by inspiring young minds and offering forgiveness by showcasing individuals who have triumphed over adversity. I’ve seen how storytelling, in all its forms, remains a powerful tool for transformation and empowerment in my mission to engage and inspire underrepresented youth in STEM and beyond.

I will begin by addressing the concerning statistic that 130 million American adults read below a 6th-grade level, emphasizing the urgent need for improved literacy.
