Michelle D. Jackson

Author, Entrepreneur, and Nonprofit Director Michelle D. Jackson published her first book, The Heart of a Man, a Christian fiction novel, in 2010. In 2014, the book was awarded a top prize in The Author’s Zone Annual Writer’s Competition, General Fiction Category. She was also the recipient of the Princeton Literary Review Gold Standard. Her second novel, From Darkness to Night: Book One – Family Secrets, was released in 2020. It was selected as an Award-Winning Finalist in the American Book Fest’s Fiction: African-American category of the 2020 Best Book Awards.  Jackson is a contributing writer for The Mount Christian Lifestyle Magazine in Pittsburgh and has had articles published in Essence Magazine, Biz Magazine New Orleans, Nia Magazine, CityBusiness New Orleans, and many other print and online publications. She was selected as a Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing Fellow. She blogs at www.1stmorningthoughts.com and www.prsbiznews.me.  

Jackson is the owner of PR Solutions LLC, a strategic marketing and corporate event planning firm and i.Invest National Youth Business Competition. She is the Executive Director of LifeSkills Foundation and the founder of the Black Writers Workspace Online Community comprised of over 11,000+ black writers and readers. She recently launched Direct2Author.com, an online indie book marketing platform.

In addition to her BA degree, Jackson has a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University. Jackson lives in New Orleans, Louisiana.

MICHELLE’S UPCOMING EVENT

Her upcoming event, the Black Ink Book Festival New Orleans, is predicted to bring out many authors, readers, and book lovers from all over the country.

This four-hour live event is a book expo comprised of 50+ local and regional authors showcasing over 100 books in all genres, including romance, sci-fi, women’s literature, urban fiction, children’s books, and more. In addition, enjoy music, storytelling in the garden, local author VIP exhibits, and the creative ambiance of the beautiful city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
