Funke Akindele, a brilliant actress and producer, came to Instagram to happily share the news, expressing appreciation to the Almighty and thanking both Nigeria and Ghana. Initially released in theaters on December 15, 2023, the picture swiftly established its domination by smashing records, reaching N133 million in its first weekend.
The enthusiasm continued as it became the highest-grossing Nollywood film 2023, earning N613 million in just 14 days.

January 2 marked another historic milestone as “A Tribe Called Judah” claimed the throne of the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, amassing a staggering N854 million at the box office within 18 days of cinematic release. This triumph surpassed Akindele’s previous cinematic successes.
“Battle on Buka Street” (N668.4 million) and “Omo Ghetto” (N636.1 million), now relegated to the second and third spots, respectively.
The film’s narrative weaves a compelling tale of a family of boys resorting to a mall heist to fund their mother’s medical expenses, only to confront armed robbers. A star-studded cast featuring Nse Ikpe Etim, Timini Egbuson, Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Genoveva Umeh, and Nosa Rex, among others, contributed to the film’s resounding success.
