Social Media Platform: In a move to enhance user experience, Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) has announced the release of its highly-anticipated audio and video calling feature. This new feature is now available on both iOS and Android devices, allowing users to make voice and video calls directly from the platform.
Although most of us know the audio and video calling option of the X platform, today, a prominent X user, @CB_DOGE, wrote on X, “You can make calls on this 𝕏 without sharing your phone number.”
It created a buzz among netizens again, so if you are curious to know how X’s audio and video feature works, then you are at the right place. Learn all about X and its new features here.

The audio and video calling feature is simple to use. Users can initiate a call by tapping the envelope icon, selecting an existing conversation, or starting a new one. They can make an audio or video call from there by tapping the respective icon. The recipient will receive a notification, and if they miss the call, they’ll receive a notification indicating a missed call.
Who Can Call You?
Through the Direct Messages Settings, users have full control over who can call them. By default, they can receive calls from accounts they follow or have in their address book (if they’ve previously granted access). Users can also customize their settings to receive calls from specific groups, such as verified users or everyone.
Managing Calls
During a call, users can easily manage their audio and video settings. They can switch between speaker and microphone, mute or unmute their microphone, and end the call with a simple tap of the X button. Video calls also allow users to switch between front—and back-facing cameras, turn off speaker mode, and turn off their camera.
The introduction of audio and video calling on X marks a significant milestone in the platform’s evolution. With this feature, users can now communicate more effectively and efficiently, making X an even more indispensable tool for real-time communication.
