The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Danai Gurira (Michonne) made a surprise appearance after the final The Walking Dead San Diego Comic Con panel alongside Producer Scott Gimple to announce the replacement of the Rick Grimes movie with a limited 6-episode series.

Scott Gimple confirmed that instead of a 2-hour film, fans would get a 6-hour limited series to conclude the Richonne story arc.

Variety published the logline to the show set for 2023

According to its logline, the show “presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”-Variety reports

This was the best news ever to loyal The Walking Dead fans. During the last ever The Walking Dead comic con panel, Norman Reedus stated that “ This is not just our show, it’s our show”. Meaning the fandom is a part of The Walking Dead Family as well and forever will be a part of the show and its success these past 11 seasons.

The Walking Dead is based on comics created by Robert Kirkman.

There were already exciting The Walking Dead spins offs in the works including The Isle of the Dead starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie), the Daryl Dixon spinoff starring Norman Reedus which doesn’t officially have a name yet, and had to readjust due to Melissa McBride (Carol) having to back out due to schedule conflicts and needing time off.

We also have the Tales of The Walking Dead anthology which just dropped the trailer and airs the very first episode on AMC on August 14th, 2022. Tales of the Walking Dead is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic horror drama anthology television series created by Scott M. Gimple and Channing Powell. Starring one of TWD best villains Samantha Morton “Alpha” and new TWD Universe member Terry Crews.

Though The Walking Dead: World Beyond is over, and the main show to follow with the final episode of The Walking Dead season 11 part 3 airing November 20th, fans still have Fear of The Walking Dead and tons of spins to ease that Walking Dead fix.

Andrew Lincoln played Rick Grimes for nearly a decade on The Walking Dead before making the hard decision to leave the show he carried so well to have more time with his family and children in the UK. The show was filmed in Atlanta.

Danai Gurira made her exit in season ten leaving it off as if Michonne found a clue that Rick, the love of her life, is still alive after the communities of Alexandria, The Hilltop, The Kingdom, and Oceanside thought he was dead for over 6 years.
