Artificial Intelligence Latest: In a world where everybody is building, exploring and experiencing artificial intelligence, here is the new arrival of AI-powered products. Meet Poe is an animated talking teddy bear toy that creates kid-friendly stories. It uses Microsoft Azure and ChatGPT 4.0 to generate and narrate stories aloud to children.
Poe is the world’s first artificial intelligence-powered toy, developed by Los Angeles-based toymaker Skyrocket. To deliver Poe’s voice and future PLAi toys, Skyrocket and
ElevenLabs, a provider of AI speech software, partnered for a multiyear period.
How does Poe create a story?

To create new stories, Poe, a stuffed animal that runs on four AA batteries, requires an app. A
Bluetooth connection sends the generated audio files to the bear, who uses his mouth to “talk” when playing music. Poe doesn’t necessarily require the app to play a story, though. By pressing its ears, you can play back your favourite stories you have saved on the bear at any moment.
The application’s design is simple and friendly, so a kid can operate it smoothly. It guides a young reader through a sequence of images that stand in for characters, settings, and objects, allowing them to select the elements of their own story. There are more alternatives available than in a conventional fairy tale. Consider the selection of characters: A narrative can include zombies, extraterrestrial warlords, social media influencers, witches, and archaeologists. The story becomes stranger the more elements are put into it.
A story prompt is provided to ChatGpt 4o in the background. The Skyrocket team has several behind-the-scenes safeguards to ensure a topic stays on the right side of controversy, like discussing murder. The final software should allow parents to turn off scary themes or characters unavailable during the early test. It should also be age-appropriate.
AI also creates the bear’s innocent voice, converting the text to speech. All this takes place in seconds after selecting the “Makeup Story” button on the app. According to reports, it produces a story in less than 30 seconds.
More AI bedtime tales are coming ahead
This technology is developing swiftly. According to Allan WONG Chi Yun, CEO of VTech, who told the Financial Times last year, Teddy bears driven by AI could be reading books to children by 2028. But here we see Poe, in 2024, doing precisely that. Additionally, even without the bear, more parents may use ChatGPT to narrate bedtime stories. Senior Vice President, Craig Federighi stated last month at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference that future software from $99 Miko Mini already exists; a monthly charge is required. As AI technology becomes more sophisticated, prices increase. One example is the $799 Moxie robot.
