Bad Gyal Vegan Owner, Chyna Love Announces Franchise Opportunities and The Expansion of 3 New locations by Spring 2023
After successfully opening the Bad Gyal Vegan Marietta, GA flagship location, the owner Chyna Love recently launched Franchise Opportunities and has a goal of 3 new locations by Spring 2023.
Chyna went from having this vision in a homeless shelter in 2014 to selling plates out of her Brooklyn apartment in 2019, to it becoming a multimillion-dollar business. Now allowing other people to fulfill their dreams of entrepreneurship through the Bad Gyal Vegan Vision.
What impact do you want to make in the lives of the customers you service daily?
Chyna Love: We want to be the staple reminder that Vegan food can be filled with love, flavor, and CULTURE! Traditionally Jamaican food is known for all of the above and we’ve been able to build a seamless bridge between my heritage and sustainable plant-based offerings.
What else would you like for our readers to know about you and the work that you do?
Chyna Love: BAD is an acronym for Blessed, Ambitious and Determined. It’s our mantra, it’s how we succeed and it’s what we believe in! We’re excited to continue to expand and bless the world with the BAD Gyal Experience!
What experience can customers have at Bad Gyal Vegan?
Chyna Love: Baddies can expect to be forever changed after experiencing BAD Gyal Vegan. Not to toot our own horns, but every bite is a MAJOR vibe! You can literally taste the Caribbean love in our food. Ironically more than 80% of our customer base isn’t plant based- so their experience is a major eye opener to them. Our food isn’t just good vegan food- it’s good food period!!
Congratulations on partnering with Beyond Meat. Please tell us how the partnership came about? As the owner of The first Caribbean Fusion Vegan Restaurant. What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?
Chyna Love: Time freedom, creativity, and seeing my thoughts become things. I remember when the Voxtail was only vision and now it’s known worldwide! I also love the idea that I’m a walking inspiration to anyone that has been counted out. I went from having this vision in a homeless shelter in 2014, to selling plates out of my Brooklyn apartment in 2019, to running a multimillion-dollar business. It’s never too late to win!
The Beyond partnership came after years of featuring their product in our renowned Jerk Burgers. To be completely honest- the timing of the partnership stemmed from a missed flight, a meditative spa day with my sis Nicole Hardy (our VP of Expansion) and a cannon-ball competition. But the full story will be available on our YouTube channel soon!
We would love to hear about your involvement with Billie Ellish’s Mom’s Foundation. What can you share with us?
Chyna Love: We were serving food out of a location on the West Side of Atlanta and had the opportunity to donate to the Free99 fridge- a chain of free food fridges throughout Atlanta. They were super impressed with our food and referred us to Feed + Support. Feed + Support provides sustainable plant-based food accessibility to underprivileged communities. We’ve been providing food for their program for the last few months and it’s been an awesome experience.
You are positioned to be one of the top black-owned mock meat brands in history! How does it feel and what’s next for you? Any new locations to come?
Chyna Love: It feels like a dream come true! The difference about BAD Gyal Vegan is that we actually created the signature Voxtails from scratch! We own the rights, and the trademark and are the pioneers of the entire concept. With that being said, I have several other Caribbean and Internationally influenced mock meats that will be hitting the market within the next year. After successfully opening our flagship location in Marietta, GA in May, we recently launched our Franchise Opportunities and have a goal of 3 new locations by Spring 2023.
