The billionaire claims to move the SpaceX and X headquarters over parental notification law for transgendered children.
California – On Tuesday, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, announced that he is relocating the SpaceX and social media business X’s headquarters from California to Texas. He wrote on X that he intended to relocate SpaceX’s rocket launch facility, known as Starbase, from Hawthorne, California, to Texas, and X HQ is relocating from San Francisco to Austin.
Musk highlighted the ‘final straw’ for the action over the latest California law that bans school teachers from notifying parents when their child changes their gender identity.

This is the final straw.
Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas. https://t.co/cpWUDgBWFe

Let us inform you further: This is not happening for the first time. Billionaire
Elon Musk has already moved Tesla’s headquarters, where he is CEO, from Palo Alto, California, to Austin in 2021. “I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” Musk wrote.
Musk said in a follow-up post that he would relocate X, formerly Twitter, from San Francisco to Austin as he “had enough of dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building.”
Since taking over X in 2022, Musk has spoken out more and more about his political beliefs. Musk has also relocated his residence from California to Texas, where there is no state personal income tax.
