Kroos, 34, who led Germany to victory in the 2014 World Cup, posted on his Instagram handle, “My career as an active footballer will end this summer after the Euro championship.”

The football legend further expresses that, “I am happy and proud that in my mind I found the right timing for my decision and that I could choose it on my own. My ambition was always to finish my career at the peak of my performance level.”

Netizens are in deep shock after hearing the news that Toni Kroos will hang up his football boots after Euro 2024.

Not only this, but as Kroos announced his shock retirement in an emotional statement, Real Madrid has since released their own statement, thanking Kroos for his contribution to their success over the past decade.
